Make the two lists

List every large item that moves and every large item that leaves. Boxes can be counted by destination, but label fragile, heavy or open containers individually.

Label by destination

Use one color for the new address and another for removal. Put labels on two visible sides so the mark stays readable in a stack.

Confirm both access plans

Share storage gate and unit details plus destination parking, stairs, elevator and doorway information. Include the person authorized to provide access at each end.

Protect the deadline

Check the storage-account closeout rules and the new-location access window. Build time for a final walk-through so the unit is not left with a shelf, padlock or loose sweepings.

Take this checklist to the unit

  • Separate move and remove inventories
  • Use distinct label colors
  • Count boxes by destination
  • Confirm access at both locations
  • Photograph fragile or damaged items
  • Plan a final empty-unit check

For service-specific boundaries and estimate details, review Storage Unit Moving Services or prepare a direct contact note.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency advises checking local programs for household hazardous waste rather than mixing paints, solvents, batteries or compressed-gas tanks into ordinary disposal. OSHA recommends clear aisles and suitable handling equipment for moving materials. See EPA household hazardous waste guidance and OSHA warehousing guidance.
