Empty and dry the appliance
Remove food, ice, lint, standing water and loose accessories. Keep shelves or racks secured so they do not shift on the way out.
Confirm disconnection
State whether electrical, water, gas or vent connections were removed before the appliance entered storage. Do not improvise with a live gas, electrical or water connection.
Record dimensions and weight clues
Share the model type and exterior dimensions when possible. Note stacked units, commercial equipment, cast-iron parts or anything that may be unusually heavy.
Check the loading path
Look for thresholds, tight corners, elevator limits and a long carry. The appliance dolly needs a clear route, not a path between loose boxes.
Take this checklist to the unit
- Empty contents and loose parts
- Dry standing water
- Confirm all connections are already removed
- Measure the appliance
- Photograph dents, rust or broken parts
- Clear a dolly-width path
For service-specific boundaries and estimate details, review Storage Unit Appliance Removal or prepare a direct contact note.
Safety sources
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency advises checking local programs for household hazardous waste rather than mixing paints, solvents, batteries or compressed-gas tanks into ordinary disposal. OSHA recommends clear aisles and suitable handling equipment for moving materials. See EPA household hazardous waste guidance and OSHA warehousing guidance.
